DEATH IN YOUR YARD
‘Fuck Mid-Tempo Hardcore’
I’ll be totally honest with you, and I may totally be in the dark on this, but I haven’t heard a lot of punk bands from Israel where DEATH IN YOUR YARD hail from.
These fine dudes sent me a little background information on them and it looks like they have been around since 2016 which is a good chunk of time.
Four releases under their belt and a few tours around Europe is a good record when you come from an area that probably isn’t really big on supporting punk music. But, I could be totally wrong. This is an outsider’s perspective.
After all of that, these gents put out a few music videos that are very well done. A few live shows, and a very cramped room and a horse head mask.
Musically they call themselves thrash/crossover and yes, I would say that is a fairly accurate description. They have some pretty hefty guitar leads, fast breaks and slower beats that balance it out very well.
They also add an element to the mix – some SPAZZ styled growls and Cookie Monster grunts and at times they really remind me of WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? Even down to the flannel and flipped up brims. They just released their new EP ‘Fuck Mid Tempo Hardcore’ in 2024 and as far as I can tell they have no reason to slow down.
Paul runs Give Praise Records and is the Editor at Shackle Magazine. Paul hangs out on Cape Cod in Massachusetts with his wife and son, Christopher. He also has been working at a offset print shop since 2003, and still tries to get out and skateboard on very small curbs.
